In Bukittinggi you can enjoy the marvelous view of Ngarai Sianok from a park called Panorama located at one ridge of a valley. By paying Rp. 4000 per person you can feast your eyes on this unforgettable panorama of a big valley between mount Singgalang and Marapi with a river running through it. You can also throw peanuts to monkeys here in this park. But don’t ever have any food in your hand because monkeys will be delighted to seize it. There is also as Japanese cave called Goa Jepang in this area. Going down more than a hundred steps winto an underground space you will see rooms where Japanese troops used to hide during the 2nd Dutch invasion and from where they could escape through the many exit tunnels. You can hire a guide who will be happy to escort you and tell you about this historical place.
Bukittinggi, a small town where you can visit the late Mr.Mohammad Hatta’ residence, where our first vice president was born, has many things that make you want to come back again and again.
